Music From The Pink Dolphins

Pink Dolphins. They’re for real and they’re pink. They live in the rainforests of the Amazon and Orinoco basins. They’re the oldest form of toothed whale. They’re enchanted. We made a musical CD with them with the help of several animal communicators.

We had wanted to do an album about dolphins for several years. I first learned about the pink freshwater dolphins of the rain forest when I was doing an interview on NPR. I told my partner Dana about them. We decided they were the next animal we were going attempt to involve in the musical creative process.

We had used an animal communicator on a previous musical project with dogs that had been successful and we wanted to try the same process with theses dolphins. Who, I admit have a certain mystical attraction.

We contacted Penelope Smith, one of the leading animal communicators in the world specializing in dolphins. We asked Penelope if she could act as a translator between us and the dolphins. It takes a certain type of communicator to successfully deal with the musical aspects of this type of work. She said yes so she contacted the dolphins relayed many of what we called “transmissions”. These were answers to questions we asked in relationship to the dolphins creating music with us. Music From The Pink Dolphins was the end result

We received an amazing amount of instructions through these transmissions and based about one third of the album on this information as translated through Penelope. I’ll post some of them later so you can read them for yourself. (check Penelope out on Interesting Links)



Another third of the content of the CD was based on an amazing book called “Journey of the Pink Dolphins” by Sy Montgomery. Sy graciously helped us with many aspects of the writing and gave us a great “I‘ve been there” point of view. We loosely used Sy’s book as a guide for parts of the CD. The final third of the CD was influenced by Roxanne Kremer – the founder of I.S.P.T.R (the International Society For The Preservation Of the Tropical Rainforest). It was like meeting Indiana Jones. Roxanne was the person who coached us in the spiritual and physical aspects of the rainforest and the pink dolphins. Roxanne has Dolphin Corners, a non-invasive research facility on the Rio Yarapa river in Peru devoted entirely to the preservation of the pink dolphins and the tropical rain forest and indigenous peoples.



We even had Roxanne lend us instruments she got from the Shaman of the Cat People who live next to her facility. It was a fascinating look into the rain forest and the heart of the whale.

We also used the services of another dolphin communicator, Eros Christos who is based in Hawaii. Eros corroborated all of the main points of Penelope’s translations.

I learned about the geology of the Americas, the Amazon, Cetaceans in general, Pink Dolphins in specific and so many strange and wonderful things that I could post every day for the next month and not repeat anything
It was one of the most intense musical experiences I ever encountered. I’ll have to post a few more of the stories connected with this project.

Transmissions From The Pink Dolphins

As I haven’t looked at our Pink Dolphin project for a while I’ll probably stick with it for the next post or two as there’s much cool stuff to share with people who are interested in dolphins – especially Pink Dolphins. Most people have never heard of them – I know I hadn’t. If you check out my last post you’ll see I mentioned contacting the Pink Dolphins using the communication talents of Penelope Smith. Here’s some of our correspondence during the process of creating the Music From The Pink Dolphins CD.

The following is a partial transcript of the second Pink Dolphin transmission series as related to Skip Haynes through Penelope Smith. It also includes excerpts from correspondence leading up to the transmissions. The excerpt at the end of the transmission is our request to Penelope to contact a poet who lived in 200 A.D. We included Ossian of Cilica’s poem about dolphins in a song called the Dolphin Prayer. It was included in almost every dolphin we visited when we were doing our diligence for the recordings.The transcripts are unedited. —Skip Haynes & Dana Walden

Skip,
Our project is so exciting, and I am delighted by the prospect of it all coming to bear fruit for the good of us all. I just got an e-mail about the energies of the time we are in, and was amazed/pleased to see about the orange/pink rays mentioned, which the Pink River Dolphin showed me today.

They refer here to the Sirian consciousness. The dolphin energy and forms are from the Sirian star system. All very interesting

The primary Ray that we are experiencing at this time is the Orange-Pink Ray of Higher Consciousness. This Ray blends the Orange of the Sacral Chakra with the Pink of the Heart Chakra energies, and is an intensely CREATIVE energy. It is the energy that will fuel the creativity and heart energy needed to lift the Planet to a Higher Harmonic of Consciousness. It is what we referred to earlier as the “Solar Feminine” energy, a blending of the fire of the Sacral with the Love of the Heart.

The Sapphire and Diamond energies of the Sirian Christ Consciousness are alternating with this powerful Orange and Pink Ray. Together these energies will help to open the consciousness of humans to the need to care for the planet and create a peaceful and balanced society. They will open the hearts of humans to creative solutions to bring peace and to stop the “programs” that call for destruction and loss of life.

Hi Skip,
The pink river dolphins were playing the music for me at 3 AM for about 1/2 hour. It has a wide range of harmonics of long tones with all colors of the spectrum. Some of it sounds symphonic or like celestial organ music - not heavy but diffused and uplifting, with variations of volume. Then there are “plup, plup, plup” sounds like bubbles bursting or big raindrops hitting the river water. There is also tropical rain showers, and underneath is the deep drone that moves slightly up and down in waves. It’s very compelling - draws you into the rainforest, down the Amazon and through the water with the dolphins and other animals. There are also birds calling and other Amazon environmental sounds. With the music they gave me pictures of the rainforest and how the Amazon affects the whole planet. The vortex draws you in and then takes you through the whole Earth to all other life.

Hope that is helpful. It better be if they’re keeping me awake for it! (smile)

It looks the dolphins are really wanting to confirm the validity of the music you are so beautifully receiving from them and the Great Mother Amazon Rainforest. It’s the music they have always been playing and now we humans are ready to hear it consciously. Don’t you feel honored to be the channel for such beauty?

I just got that Sirius (the dog star) should be mentioned somewhere in the recording - perhaps in a song title or words in a song/story about the dolphins arrival or energy on this planet.

Hi Skip,
I like the cover in part. The dolphin in the center looks very much like the one who’s been communicating to me, only his tone is not so bright pink as on the cover. When the dolphin showed me the lights coming in to the river, they were pink and pink orange rays sort of blended together, swirling in more like an arc from the cosmos, rather than the yellow fairy-like lights you have. The bubbles and the musical waves go with the images the dolphin gave me.

Thanks for allowing me to see and hear the cover and song in progress. I know the finished work will all be magnificent and moving and very inspired.

Pink River Dolphins refer me to all dolphins and whales to have the people of the world hear their song, their message to all beings. Then one spokes-dolphin, a Pink River Dolphin from the Amazon speaks:

Soul of the World, Anima Mundi, is the message that we bring to you. We are the Soul of the World. All beings, all life pulse with the Great Mother Soul. Awareness of Her and Her Richness of Being is essential for the next movement of Humanity into saving itself from destruction and further harm to all creatures of the Earth. The Earth is Self-Healing. Nothing is needed to be done to heal the Earth except to evolve into the Soul of the World, the Unity of All Hearts, the Joy of Divine Expression coming from the Center of Being.

We have given you many songs (Pink River Dolphin in the Amazon focusing with you, Skip, and others). Emphasize the message of joy and communion. It is necessary for you (Skip) to experience this melding into the World Soul more deeply so that you can express it to others. We are reaching the world through you and many other beings who are now receptive. Tell them to listen to the Song, the Great Song of the Great Mother of the World. Hi Penelope
It was very nice speaking with you again. Here’s what little info I could find out about our poet Oppian of Cilica. He wasn’t Greek - he lived in what is now Turkey on the coast of the Aegean sea across from Crete. He seemed to have a short interesting life but this is all I could find out about him to date. This is quite exciting. i can’t wait to find out if you can contact him now that I’ve begin learning about him. Inquiring minds want to know.

*Oppian of Corycus (or Anabarzus) in Cilicia, who flourished in the reign of Marcus Aurelius. According to an anonymous biographer, his father, having incurred the displeasure of Lucius Verus, the colleague of Aurelius, by neglecting to pay his respects to him when he visited the town, was banished to Malta. Oppian, who had accompanied his father into exile, returned after the death of Verus (169) and went on a visit to Rome. Here he presented his poems to Aurelius, who was so pleased with them that he gave the author a piece of gold for each line, took him into favor and pardoned his father. Oppian subsequently returned to his native country, but died of the plague shortly afterwards, at the early age of thirty.



my questions are:

1. Did he compose this poem:

“Diviner than the Dolphin is nothing yet created, for indeed they were aforetime men and lived in cities with mortals. They exchanged the land for the sea and put on the form of fishes. But, even now, the righteous spirit of men in them preserves human thought and human deeds.”

2. Would he be willing to compose a poem about the dolphins for us today. it’s a whole potential new market for his genius. I don’t know if a new market for his poetry is of interest to him but it can’t hurt to ask.

Nora the Piano-playing Cat

I saw Nora on YouTube and wanted to sign her immediately. I didn’t even know she had so many viewers. Didn’t find that out until later. All I knew was the cat was playing the piano! She fit in perfectly with all of our other animal artistes. We’d already signed Carla the parrot, Koko the gorilla, done a CD with an animal communicator for dogs and worked with Pink River Dolphins. The only thing we hadn’t done was work with a cat and there she was tickling the ivories.

I contacted Nora’s guardians – Besty Alexander and Burnell Yow!. We signed Nora immediately and began creating the music based on Nora’s piano playing. We had already performed with Carla the parrot and now we were backing up a cat. It may sound strange, but it beats working with a lot of the human performers we’ve worked with.

One of the things I really liked about Nora was the fact she actually preferred playing on a Yamaha piano. Betsy has two pianos (she’s a piano teacher among other things) and Nora always goes for the Yamaha. I’m a Baldwin man myself, but it really tickled me that Nora preferred the Yamaha. Obviously a cat of distinction and good taste – musically that is. She also has very good posture when she plays. Obviously she pays attention when Betsy’s giving lessons.

We released Nora’s Song on a CD called Cat On The Keys and it’s starting to do well so we are working on another song with Nora – one that hasn’t been seen on YouTube or anywhere else – it’s going to be a morning drive time tune.

The only problem with Nora is she’s a real diva and absolutely refuses to travel anywhere. Period. Jay Leno and the Tonight show are out. The only thing left for us to do is a music video, which we’re working on as I write this


.

Nora and her CD are a big hit in Japan. Who’da thought? She’s been on quite a few television programs there and the Japanese seem to like her and her music a lot. It’s hard for us to tell because we don’t speak Japanese, but that’s what we’ve been told.

We’re trying sign Gibson, the World’s Tallest Dog (who says an “I Love You” you wouldn’t believe. If we’re successful and release a CD with him singing we’re hoping to achieve our ultimate goal with both Gibson and Nora – a duet – just like K.D. Lang and Tony Bennett. Gibson The Big Dog and Nora the Piano-Playing Cat. Too much fun.

I’ll be back with more about Nora as her story unfolds. We’re waiting to hear from Yamaha to see if Nora and her song are going to get an endorsement deal – remember, she’s prefers Yamaha pianos.

Gotta go. I’m heading out the door to see if we can sign Ray Charles parrot who happens to live just down the street from me here in Laurel Canyon.

Nora's bio - for those of you who are interested. It’s the classic American success story. From being an orphan to being a star. Sort of warms your heart:

Nora was adopted as a kitten in 2004 from a cat shelter in Cherry Hill, NJ. She is a gray domestic short hair with a Classic Tabby pattern, sometimes called a bulls-eye pattern because of the large circles on her sides. Her parents, Betsy Alexander and Burnell Yow!, are both artists and musicians and live in Philadelphia, PA with Nora and their five other cats: Miro, Max, Gabby, Clara, and Rennie. As a kitten, Nora showed an immediate interest in the piano, which consisted of laying around, under or on it during Betsy's lessons with her many private students. Then one day Nora jumped up on the piano bench, sat in perfect posture with both paws on the keys, and began to play notes. She was just one-year-old. She has played almost every day for the last two years, and loves to play duets with Betsy's students.
